ALFRETON: Probus Club’s tribute to the memory of Jack Brown and Ron Kurrige

Alfreton Men’s Probus Club held their monthly meeting at the Hilcote Country Club.

Chairman, Tony Hopkins requested everyone to stand while a minute’s silence was observed in respect of two members who had died since the previous meeting, one of whom was Jack Brown who had undertaken the office of treasurer to the club for many years and would be greatly missed and fellow member Ron Kurrige.

After lunch, the chairman introduced the speakers, Jim Riley and Jeffrey Thompson, both steam train enthusiasts, who presented a video showing steam trains which had been acquired from British Rail when obsolete and restored by their local rail enthusiasts society. The vote of thanks to the speakers was given by Ken Britton.
