ALFRETON: National Service experiences shared with Probus Club

A meeting of the Alfreton & District Men’s Probus Club was held at the Hilcote Country Club on the first Thursday of September. The chairman, Tony Hopkins, welcomed visitors and members, after which apologies were offered on behalf of members unable to attend by Joe Cleary. Members then took lunch following which the secretary presented the minutes of the previous meeting.

The speaker was club member, Colin Walker. His talk was titled “Unusual Lifetime Experiences” which covered many experiences he had encountered throughout life both as a child and during his time whilst on National Service in the Air Force. Mr Stan Smith gave the vote of thanks.

The chairman closed the meeting and invited members to bring along anyone interested in becoming a member to the next meeting.
