ALFRETON: Gifts and talents on display at Alfreton Wesley Church flower festival

A wide range of gifts and talents were on display when Alfreton Wesley Church staged its annual flower festival at the weekend.

Various talents, ranging from needlecraft, art, music and dance to gardening, basketry, drama and DIY were depicted in floral arrangements at the two-day “Festival of Talents” event.

A total of 14 displays were the work of church members and friends.

The festival was open for viewing on Saturday and Sunday, when refreshments were served.

Sunday morning service was conducted by Mrs Doreen Trembling of Sandiacre, and readings were given by Caroline Dellow and Arthur Stinton. A Songs of Praise service in the evening was led by David Hopkinson and a reading was given by Dorothy Howell. A prayer was led by John Turner, and hymns were chosen by Muriel Kellington, Margaret Watson, John Turner, Valerie Cogar, Jackie McNeill, Joyce Gibson, Viv Siddons and Arthur Stinton. Valerie Cogar was organist.
