Alcohol ban for store

TRADERS have been warned not to sell alcohol to underage buyers after another Chesterfield store had its licence suspended.

Mastin Moor Post Office had its licence to sell alcohol suspended for a month after two sales to an underage volunteer during a joint Derbyshire County Council and police investigation.

Extra conditions have also been imposed on the Renishaw Road outlet following the licence review hearing at Chesterfield Borough Council.

It is the second Chesterfield store to receive a licence suspension for under-age sales in the past fortnight – after Hollingwood Stores, Hollingwood, received similar sanctions on December 5.

Cllr Kevin Parkinson, Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for regeneration, said: “The outcome of these reviews sends out a clear message to retailers that they must trade within the law or face the consequences.”

The ban comes into effect 21 days after the shop owners receive a letter informing them of the suspension order. They have the right to appeal.
