Ripley Heritage Action Group marks its first year with an AGM next Wednesday.

The group provides a forum to share ideas for preserving historical buildings and enhancing the local area. Vice chair Joyce Slack said: “Many important buildings have been destroyed over the years all of which have gone forever. Ripley railway station would have been an excellent community facility. The Hippodrome cinema could have been restored and been an asset to Ripley.”

She warned that listed buildings at the Butterley site could be lost without investment and public support. The AGM takes place at the Barnes Wallis pub on Wednesday, February 19, at 7pm.
