ONE of north Derbyshire’s leading accountants has revealed its long-awaited property redevelopment plans in its efforts to continue supporting the business community.

Partners at Shorts Accountants, in Chesterfield, have wanted to bring all its services under one roof at one site for some time and this month announced how construction has commenced at its Ashgate Road base.

Partner Howard Freeman said: “This is the start of an exciting and challenging year for the firm.

“As the largest and longest established independent accountants and financial advisers in the Chesterfield area we believe that this is an important opportunity to be able to invest in the future.

“It will also help to show our confidence in the local business community in what are obviously challenging times.”

Many of the original architectural features of the existing Victorian property on Ashgate Road are being retained and incorporated into the new building and it is hoped that all staff will move into their new offices by late 2012 or early 2013.

In the meantime however, it is business as usual with Shorts Financial Services and Payroll departments located nearby in temporary offices and the company aims to ensure that client services will be unaffected.

Anyone wanting to contact them can call Shorts Financial Services on (01246) 559955 and its Payroll team on (01246) 520339 and all post can be addressed as normal. Shorts aim to ensure that client service is unaffected throughout.

Shorts have had offices in Chesterfield since their formation in 1890 and in recent years have traded from two buildings on Fairfield Road and one on Ashgate Road.

It hopes the new development will give visitors easier access and improved parking facilities with the added benefit of bringing everything under one roof in a bright and comfortable modern environment.
