Abandoned baby launches search for birth mum - after 25 years

Twenty-five years after being abandoned as a baby on the stairs of Chesterfield Co-op a woman has launched a hunt for her birth mum.

Newborn Victoria Vardy made front page news in 1987 when she was found zipped up in a canvas bag at the store on Elder Way.

More than two decades later, the case of the abandoned baby — who was adopted by a Chesterfield couple — remains something of a local mystery.
