A COMMUNITY has come together in a bid to brighten up a north Derbyshire village by planting 5,000 blue crocus bulbs.
Residents and Dronfield Henry Fanshawe pupils teamed up to plant the bulbs – expected to blossom next spring – in Coal Aston, near Dronfield.
David Hallam, a member of Dronfield Civic Society, came up with the idea.
He explained: “I was driving through Harrogate and noticed thousands of crocuses which looked very nice.
“I thought it would be a good idea to have something similar as you enter Coal Aston.”
Mr Hallam thanked civic society members and local residents who helped fund the venture and plant the crocuses.
