Firefighters from across the region battled a massive building blaze for nearly three hours

The fire erupted in the roof space of BAS Castings, on Brookhill Lane, Pinxton, about 8.45pm, on Saturday.

A fire services spokesman said: "The blaze spread to internal offices of the foundry and caused such extensive damage the ceiling had to be removed to make it safe."

Firefighters were called out from Alfreton, Clay Cross, Heanor, Ripley and Sutton-in-Ashfield and the aerial ladder platform was need from Derby's Kingsway station.

The crews armed with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets extinguished the blaze and used a thermal imaging camera to track down hot-spots before declaring the area safe by 11.35pm.
