Businesses invited to back major Derbyshire art installation
Helios, the seven-metre model of the sun by artist Luke Jerram, is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors
Businesses are being invited to put their name behind an internationally acclaimed art installation that will launch one of the city’s biggest cultural events this autumn.

Helios, the seven-metre model of the sun by artist Luke Jerram, is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors when it arrives at Derby Cathedral from 20 to 31 October.
The installation will mark the start of a year of celebrations leading up to the Cathedral’s 100th anniversary in 2027.

Derby Cathedral is now looking for local businesses to get behind the event, with sponsorship packages available from £100 through to main sponsorship opportunities.
Sponsors will receive a range of benefits depending on the package they choose, including branding across event marketing, opportunities to feature within the exhibition itself, and invitations to an exclusive launch event.
Tom Wyke, Head of Fundraising at Derby Cathedral, said: “We’ve already seen a real buzz around the announcement that Helios is coming to Derby, and now we’re looking for businesses to be part of it.
“This is an opportunity to support something that will bring people into the city, encourage families and schools to visit the Cathedral, and kick off our centenary celebrations in a really memorable way.
“We’ve made sure there are options for businesses of all sizes. Whether you’re a small independent business or a larger organisation, we’d love to hear from you and talk about how you can be involved.”
As well as attracting visitors from across the region, Helios will include a programme of educational activities for schools and families, supporting Derby Cathedral’s ambition to be a place of learning, creativity, and community.
The installation follows the success of Luke Jerram’s previous visits to Derby Cathedral. More than 55,000 people visited Museum of the Moon in 2019, while thousands more saw Gaia in 2022.
