£50,000 boost for skate park project

A project to redevelop Fairfield’s skate park has been given a major boost after a local company donated £50,000.

Locals have been fundraising for over a year to create a new, improved facility on Bench Road as the current skate park behind Fairfield Centre is basic and outdated.

And their efforts have been given a huge boost after they were awarded £50,000 from Lafarge Tarmac via the Landfill Communities Fund, which will go towards completing the project.

The Fairfield Skate Park Community Group is now working towards raising the final funds needed for the project and are hoping that work can begin in the summer.

An Easter fun day is taking place at Fairfield Centre on Saturday April 5 from 1pm, featuring games, face painting, a car boot sale, an Easter egg hunt, a raffle, tombola and a bouncy castle. The car boot sale is £5 per pitch with no booking necessary.
