A £27 million programme to improve and modernise schools has been approved this week by Derbyshire County Council.
Several schools in the High Peak will benefit from the funding, which comes from the authority’s capital programme.
Work to be undertaken includes:
• Improving the heating system at Buxton Community School and New Mills School and Sixth Form Centre - £165,000 each
• Re-wiring and improving the heating system at Buxton Infants School and Buxton Junior School - £110,000 each
• Renewing all the flat roof coverings at Fairfield Infants and Nursery School - £360,000
• Renewing the library roof and parapet repairs at New Mills School Business and Enterprise College - £187,000.
In addition, a further £150,000 is to be spent at Peak Dale Primary School on internal remodelling work to create an office, head’s office and additional teaching space.
