Research by NHS Hardwick and North Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) found that 23,185 patients did not attend appointments they had made. At an average of ten minutes per appointment, this means 3,864 hours and ten minutes of appointment time was wasted.

Dr Ben Milton, Chair of NHS North Derbyshire CCG, said: “These staggering figures show that thousands of patients are being kept waiting for appointments. The sooner we can see our patients, the sooner we can put their minds at rest by setting them on the road to treatment and recovery.”
