We are very pleased that our weekly Lunch Club which is held at St Albans centre, Holmewood, every Tuesday has been successful in gaining a ’Healthy Place Award’ from NHS Derbyshire County. We have been selected as one of the top three projects submitted and will receive a prize according to the votes we receive in the Derbyshire Times.
This award is in recognition of the service we provide to the community, offering a warm safe place where people can come for a nutritious meal and some social interaction. The judging panel were extremely impressed with the commitment, enthusiasm and dedication of the volunteers that support the Lunch Club in engaging with the wider community. For St Albans to win, the Tuesday Lunch Club needs nominations by e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org by February 28.
On Friday morning children and adults met at St Albans Centre, Holmewood, for half-term fun morning. There was a challenge to make a basket out of materials that were in the craft box, while the younger children made bread and fish shapes to put in the basket. The older children also went outside with Village Games and played a variety of sports.
After returning to the centre participants had games that everyone could enjoy together and finished by telling the story of the loaves and fishes,
