MARINE 2-1 MATLOCK TOWN

Not for the first time this season, slipshod defending cost Matlock dearly.
After looking largely comfortable throughout, they fell to sleep twice and were duly punished by a beatable Marine side who failed to live up to the usual expectations.

Matlock had already had a warning in the 29th minute when Peter Cumiskey saw h
is free header go over the bar.

That stirred the visitors into life and Matty Caudwell's shot was blocked and then after collecting the rebound, Simon Barraclough's effort could not beat the impressive Luke in the Marine goal.

It was on 37 minutes when Marine edged ahead. Paul Woolcott's overhit delivery from a corner found Steve Hussey wide on the left and his ball back into the box scraped just inside the far upright.

Matlock started the second half in impressive form and levelled the match in the 66th minute with an own goal. Jackson skated passed McDermott and his low cross could only be deflected into his own net by Lee Williams, under severe pressure from striker Barraclough.

Any hopes of a draw were shattered on 74 minutes when Karl O'Donnell continued his good record against Matlock, brushing aside Ryan Davis and leaving Richmond helpless wtih a precise finish.

MATLOCK TOWN: Richmond, King, Featherstone, Thorpe (Benger 84), Laight, Davis, Jackson (Webster 68), Warne, Cropper, Barraclough, Caudwell (Harrison 78). Subsnot used: Brown, Williams.

Attendance: 330
