Matthew Bowler and Daniel Hewitt have been celebrating after becoming British champions.
The duo are members of the Chesterfield-based Mind Body Spirit Martial Arts Academy and they gained their ju-jitsu gold medals at the Great Britain National Championships which were staged in Walsall.

Twelve students from the club, which has its headquarters on Brimington Road, made the journey to the Midlands and some travelled home with other medals after taking part in the continuous fighting section of the tournament.

Club instructor Michael Robotham did well to capture a silver, while there were bronze medals for Sabrina Fletcher, Mary Greenwood and instructor Ben Feltham.

Academy chiefs were delighted with the six-medal haul as it was the club's first national tournament.

For further information about the academy call Mike or Kathy on 01246 550680 or visit www.mbsmaa.co.uk.
