Loughborough University was the destination for many of the country's top young stars over the Easter break, as they were competing in the most important domestic event of the year for their age groups the Cadet and Junior National Championships.

On the Easter Sunday in the Cadet singles the north Derbyshire contingent was up on its feet clapping the invincible performance of Lucy Davidson.

As the number two seed she was always under pressure to realise the expectations of reaching the final. With her vast range of shots and tactical knowledge she took her place in the final with a 3-1 semi-final win over Yolanda King.

Emily Bates the No1 seed and junior girls champion did not fair so well on the Sunday and it was a buzzing and motivated Chloe Whyte from Cleveland who came through to challenge Lucy in the final.

The final swung one way then the other but it was Lucy who claimed the title winning the last two games to become the ETTA Cadet National Champion.

The Cadet Girls Doubles saw number one seeds Emily Bates and Lucy Davidson have little difficulty in defeating Chloe White and Jasmin Ould to win the national double title.

Once again Chesterfield table tennis has something to be so proud of as congratulations are due to double national champion Lucy Davidson.
North Derbyshire's international squad of junior boys – Liam Pitchford, Daniel Lowe and Sean Cullen – are all first year in this age group but they all gave tremendous performances to reach quarter and semi finals of the various events.

An injured Liam Pitchford brought back to Chesterfield another national title as he partnered the European gold medallist Gavin Evans to lift the junior boys national title.
