Law cashes in on Warne move

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law produced another astute piece of business when midfielder Steve Warne was sold back to Matlock Town for an undisclosed four-figure fee last Friday, less than nine months after joining the Reds on a free from the Gladiators.
He made 38 appearances including one as substitute and scored just once for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Alfreton began their pre-season preparations with a 6-0 win over Dinnington Town on an astroturf surface at the Goodwin Sports Centrre at Sheffield University last Saturday.

Paul Clayton hit a hat-trick and there were further goals from Tom Curtis, Danny Reet and trialist Cash Walters.

On Tuesday night Nicky Law's side romped home 10-0 at Southwell City. Josh Law scored twice including one from the penalty spot, Paul Clayton and Danny Mayman both despatched headers while there were hat-tricks for Danny Davidson and Danny Reet who notched three in six minutes late on.

Meanwhile, the Reds have announced the admission prices for their three pre-season home games.

The Reds have attractive opposition in Macclesfield Town, FC Halifax Town and Sheffield United in the space of nine days starting next Thursday with the visit of the Macc lads.

Admission to the Macclesfield and Halifax games will be £6 for adults and £3 concessions while the Sheffield United fixture will be £8 and £4 respectively.

Following their visit to Quorn AFC tomorrow evning, the third pre-season run out so far, the Reds then move on to some stiffer tests.

The Macclesfield game next Thursday brings back memories of the FA Cup first round clash against the Silkmen less than four years ago when Mick Goddard's injury time shot was inches away from knocking out the League Two side.

The Cheshire club are managed by former Ilkeston Town boss Keith Alexander who has recently signed Wayne Rooney's brother John.

After a short trip up the M1 to take on Staveley MW on Saturday, July 26, the Reds return home on Tuesday, July 29, to face brand new club FC Halifax Town who have filled the gap created by the cancellation of the home game against Mansfield Town the same date.

Former Reds striker Neil Ross has just joined the Yorkshiremen who also list ex-Ilkeston boss Nigel Jemson as assistant manager. Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Kevin Blackwell's Sheffield United then visit the Impact Arena on Friday, August 1 (7.30pm).

It is the second season in succession the Blades have visited the Impact Arena and the Championship side have promised another strong line-up.
