Bakewell professional cyclist Tom Last is racing in Canada this week where he hopes to secure just some of the $70,000 of prize money on offer at the prestigious BC Superweek series of events.
Last, riding for the Kinesis UK team, is riding alongside team-mate Josh James in the events near Vancouver, and will tackle eight gruelling races in ten days.

The opening three-day event was the Tour de Delta, where he turned in some good perform
ances in a quality field of riders from across the world.

In the opening prologue he finished 63rd in a 94-strong field, but with bunched racing being more his forte he was 15th in the following day's criterium and tenth in the final road race stage on Sunday.

He moved on to the Tour de Gastown criterium yesterday where crowds of up to 40,000 were expected to see the riders battle it out for a $15,000 prize fund, and he then tackles the Giro di Burnaby criterium today, with the same amount of cash up for grabs.

Finally, this weekend he competes in the Tour de White Rock, which begins on Friday with a 700-metre hill climb which features gradients of around 16 per cent.

Saturday is another criterium, while the final stage on Sunday is the 130-kilometre Peace Arch News Road Race.

Meanwhile, in time trialling, Chris Green still leads the Matlock Cycling Club points table after victory in the club's long hilly 10.4-mile event last week, but things are close with rival Peter Colledge just 79 points behind after winning both the club ten and the open ten.
