Help cast to look the part

CHESTERFIELD Operatic Society is looking for someone special to fill a leading role in their next production, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Unusually, singing, acting and dancing qualities are not required, but the ability to have the cast, if not the audience, in stitches is required.

The society is seeking a wardrobe mistress to organise the costume plot for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (April 24-28) and maintain the society’s award-winning standards.

While this is an unpaid role, the wardrobe mistress/master can expect to derive enormous satisfaction and pleasure from contributing to the productions of a society which has enthralled audiences for more than 100 years.

The society rehearses at its own premises on Abercrombie Street, Chesterfield, on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Society chairman Doug Melloy said: “It’s all very well singing like Katherine Jenkins, dancing like Gene Kelly and acting like Richard Burton, but it’s just as important that they look absolutely right for the part and we need to maintain that attention to detail.”

Anyone interested in taking on this challenging but rewarding role should contact the society secretary, Karl Brennan, on 07980 707445, or call in during a rehearsal night.

Tickets for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (£15) are available now from the theatre box office (01246 345222) or through the theatre website.
