Lead guitarist Chris Raynor is tuning up for a trip down memory lane when he plays in Chesterfield tonight (Thursday, February 23).
Chris, who has a home in Matlock, played lead guitar for rock ‘n’ roll legend Billy Fury for seven years.
“I like to think Billy was a friend,” said Chris, who accompanied Britain’s answer to Elvis Presley for the last seven years of his career.
The star was forced to retire due to ill-health in 1977 but 20 years later members of his backing band, Fury’s Tornados, went back on the road.

The band, which is now in its 15th year of touring, will take centre stage in Billy Fury Halfway to Paradise, which hits the Winding Wheel this evening at 7.30pm.
The two-hour show charts Billy’s life from his humble background working the River Mersey tugboats, through to his name change, 29 hit records and rock stardom, to his premature death at the age of just 43.
Tickets for Billy Fury Halfway to Paradise cost £17.50. Contact (01246) 345222 or www.chesterfieldvenues.co.uk
