The cheeky chappy from Calow, near Chesterfield, has been winning fans across the globe with his incarnation as psychic Ian D Montfort.

“Some of Ian’s biggest fans are spirit mediums,” said Tom, 42. “The worst reaction is when people think I’m real and seek me out after the show for private readings.”

So popular has the character become that he has been given his own Radio 2 show with Melanie Sykes next month.

With British radio listeners yet to fall under the medium’s spell, Ian has already made waves Down Under through appearances in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Sydney.

The psychic made his debut at the Edinburgh Festival two years ago, notching up a second success for multiple awards nominee Tom who created the hospital radio disc jockey Ivan Brackenbury.

The former student of St Mary’s RC High School, Chesterfield will bring both characters to the town’s Winding Wheel on Thursday, June 28.

He said: “It’s not hard to do both - I just bring a different outfit and put on a different voice.

“I guess I’ll save a quid or two on petrol. Also, I’ll be in bed by midnight so that’s a bonus!”

Tickets cost £10 and £8; call 01246 345333 or go to www.chesterfieldvenues.co.uk
