Circus freak show with modern twist
The act that shocked Britain’s Got Talent viewers last year, Circus of Horrors, is coming to the region with a new show.
Their latest production, entitled The Ventriloquist, will be staged at Sheffield City Hall on Monday, February 6.
First performed in the alternative fields of Glastonbury festival in 1995, their weird and wonderful world harks back to the roots of the circus freak show with a modern twist.
The undead ring master and creator Dr Haze hosts an array of astonishing performers including a beautiful trapeze act secured only by her hair and a contortionist with a talent for archery, using her feet. Undoubtedly the star of the new show is the mysterious and chilling Ventriloquist and the demonic dummy.
Although all performers are highly trained, the show’s stars risk their lives during every performance. At a recent show in Bradford, Hannibal Hellmurto the sword swallower ripped a ten centimetre hole in his oesophagus whilst swallowing an electrified fluorescent tube. The former German tax official was held in Bradford Royal Infirmary’s intensive care for three weeks but in December rejoined the rest of the tour.
As well as Britain’s Got Talent, they have featured on a number of prime time television shows including Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeway and So Graham Norton. They released their first rock single From Hell in October 2011 and ringmaster Dr Haze has recently published his autobiography titled Mud, Blood and Glitter.
