Band revisits the Merseybeat hits

Merseymania at Dronfield Civic Hall on February 11

Merseymania at Dronfield Civic Hall on February 11

Musicians will be revisiting the great era of the 1960s Merseybeat in a show which is coming to north-east Derbyshire.

The Beat Club will recreate Merseymania when they perform in Dronfield on Saturday, February 11.

‘Merseymania’ was the masses’ reaction to the music played by the beat groups in the 1960s at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club. A musical craze that began at the club then spread quickly throughout the world.

The Beat Club, fronted by ‘Scouser’ Steve Quillon, recaptures the exciting times of 1965 and 1969 at The Cavern. Steve performed at the venue a couple of times in the late sixties; an achievement recognised by the inclusion of a brick bearing his group’s name in the ‘Cavern Wall of Fame’ which is opposite to where the original Cavern once stood.

At their show in Dronfield Civic Hall, you’ll hear songs made famous by The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Searchers, The Who, The Kinks, The Drifters to name just a few.

The instruments and amplification are all originals from the sixties with the names Hofner, Burns, Vox, Selmer and Premier on show and still making a great sound!

A stageset helps to recreate The Cavern’s atmosphere.

The show starts at 7.30pm. Admission is £12; to book, call 07506 844665 or contact www.merseymania.ticketsource.co.uk
