SPAIN and Italy are coming together this month when one of the oldest Italian family distillers comes to Chesterfield for a wine and grappa evening with a difference.

On May 21, Casa Hotel will welcome Francoli, who have been distilling grappa and producing wine from their vineyards in Northern Italy for five generations. Francoli will visit Chesterfield with what they say is ‘the smoothest grappa in the world’.

Founded in 1951 by Luigi Francoli, the Francoli distillery has a rich history in the production of grappa and wines. Francoli’s Jonathan Lyddon, who has over 30 years’ experience in the wine and spirits industry, will host the event.

Jonathan has an unrivalled knowledge of these distinctive products having worked in extensively with some of the greatest names in cognac, whisky, burgundy....and now grappa!. He will explain the quality of the wines and grappa served at the dinner and will be delighted to answer any questions.

The wines and grappa will be accompanied by a carefully constructed, Italian-inspired menu. Casa’s rosette-awarded chefs will be using organically reared produce, sourced locally from Walton Lodge Farm.

The Francoli evening is one in a series of wine tasting events which are taking place at Casa this year. Other events include: French, South African and a special Moet Hennessy evening in November.
