Guitar star’s solo performance

LEGENDARY guitarist Gordon Giltrap will be giving a solo concert in Chesterfield.

The concert at St John’s Church Centre, Walton, on Friday, February 25, coincides with the launch of a book of his music.

For the past two years, Gordon has been collaborating with local guitarist and publisher Steve Marsh with the aim of publishing all the Giltrap original guitar works.

The concert in Chesterfield is the official book launch of Volume 2 in the series and Gordon will be singing copies after the concert. Acoustic ace Gordon has been performing for more than 30 years and has released over 25 albums.

His guitar instrumental Heartsong became the first of two chart singles and two chart albums and was used for many years by the BBC for their Holiday programme.

In 2001 his Troubadour album was released to critical acclaim with sleeve notes by Sir Tim Rice and Sir Cliff Richard who also guested as backing vocalist on the opening track.

Gordon has appeared alongside Cliff Richard in the hit musical Heathcliff for which he wrote a number of tunes.

Tickets for Gordon’s concert in Walton cost £10 and £8. To book, call (01246) 233496.
