SIR — Re the fireworks debate, my daughter lives near Walton and has a lovely dog who is absolutely terrified of all the bangs and flashes that regularly go off around her house.
The dog has ruined her house totally, scratching furniture, floors and carpets, etc, because of the trauma of fireworks.

My daughter has tried everything to calm her pet down, including sedation, and has spent a lot of money on this problem.

Have fireworks on November 5 but not all of the time.

PET LOVER,
Name and address supplied.

SIR — It's only August and here we go again with fireowrks. I wish people could see the terror in pets when a firework goes up. Mine shakes like a leaf and pants (you would think he was having a heart attack).

I say ban all but organised firework displays — after all how many people are injured each year by them?

PET OWNER,
Inkersall.
Name and full address supplied.
