SIR — Just a few lines to add my support for the idea of naming a road/street after Fred Greaves, VC.
He was a shining star that many people at present should and would look up to.

CPL FRED GREAVES, VC

Into the fray without a thought for self preservation

He conquered long odds all for our salvation

This working class man became a first class hero

And became a future role model for millionaires to zero

Moden and jocular but with great Derbyshire grit

He weathered the attrition in that deep muddied slit

Against a fierce enemy that sometimes was feared

Fred never wavered from the path that he steered

Bodly fought his corner and no utterance of defeat

Surely this fine man is worthy of a street!

A. S. BRADLEY,

39 New Road

Barborough.
