SIR — Kathryn Evans (Mailbox, July 3) rightly complains of poor bus timetable information.
The problem is that, even when you have a timetable, it's based on routes rather than destinations. There is often a choice of routes to get to where you want to go. Several bus routes, for example, pass Hasland Toll Bar.
Can we have timetables
based on destinations please? This is particularly important when buses start from different points in the centre of Chesterfield. Do we make for Church Way for the next Hasland bus — or will it be leaving from Beetwell Street? Remove some of the frustration of travelling by bus to get more customers out of their cars.
Electronic information in the town centre to tell you if the bus was on schedule would also be useful in this comptuer age — but let's not rush things too much.

SIR — All's well that ends well on the public transport timetables.
The July edition of the North East Derbyshire bus times book is now on sale —I bought mine on July 7. The revision date seems to be June 30. The book says "From June 2008".
Why Derbyshire County Council did not tell everyone that the publication date had just been put back two months is beyond me. A PR own-goal.
I think Derbyshire does well by public transport.
