Memories of Chesterfield past will be rekindled for many of our readers with this picture which has been sent in by Suzanne Parsons.
It was taken in the 1980s as work was just about to start on the building of the the town's by-pass.

In the centre of the picture is the Chesterfield Hotel and to the left the Derbyshire Times' building.

At the foot of the picture Chesterfield Railway Station – since replaced with a modern structure.

Readers will, of course, recognise the Crooked Spire and the blue building is Eyres....which is now painted green.

If you have any old picture of Chesterfield town centre then send them to us at: Memories, Derbyshire Times, Station Road, Chesterfield, S41 7XD.
