Chesterfield FC have signed keeper Tommy Lee on a one-year contract.
Lee (22), a former Manchester United youngster who spent four years at Old Trafford, has agreed terms with the Spireites and all the paperwork will be completed yesterday.
Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson told the club's website: "Tommy is a goalkeeper who has gained lots of experience over the last couple of seasons, including a Wembley final appearance.
"He is mentally strong and very agile and has the chance to establish himself as Chesterfield's number one."
He made his Blues debut on Tuesdsay when Chesterfield defeated Championship neighbours Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in a pre-season friendly.
Lee, who has been training with the Spireites first-team squad for a few weeks, gave an impressive performance against the Owls and made a number of important saves to keep a clean sheet.
The Saltergate club has been without a No1 keeper since Barry Roche joined Morecambe six weeks ago and Lee's display persuaded manager Lee Richardson to offer the keeper a contract just over a week before Blues kick off their League Two season at Barnet.
Keighley-born Lee joined Manchester United as a youngster and in 2005 he helped the Red Devils' reserve team win four trophies. Chesterfield's right back Phil Picken was also a member of that successful Old Trafford team.
Following a loan spell at Macclesfield, Lee joined the Moss Rose club on a full-time basis and made a total of 63 appearances for the Cheshire side.
A wrist injury saw him on the sidelines last Christmas but when he recovered in March he was loaned out to Rochdale where he helped the Spotland club reach the League Two play-off final at Wembley.
Lee was a popular figure among Dale supporters but after 3-2 defeat against Stockport, he returned to Macclesfield and was released.
