Lester rallies to the cause

Star striker Jack Lester has predicted an upturn in Chesterfield FC's League Two fortunes
And the potent frontman, who netted 27 goals last season, has reiterated that he has neither fallen out with manager Lee Richardson nor made a transfer request.
Lester acknowledged that Blues players, just like supporters, had been disappointed with the season that so far has seen the team average just over a point per game, with ten points from nine matches.
''The start has been frustrating. We have talked about it long and hard about putting things right,'' said Lester in a BBC radio interview.
''If we are not near the top of the table, people will be disappointed.
''We showed the desire on Saturday and I see a change on the horizon and until there is change, criticism is due and rightly so,'' he said.
Lester dismissed talk of fall-outs and transfer requests, echoing the rebuttals manager Lee Richardson made two weeks ago.
''The rumours are silly.
''I have never handed in a transfer request in my career.
''I do not know why somebody would want to try and unsettle me or the club. I am very happy here,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Richardson looks likely to be able to select his starting line-up for Saturday's visit of Chester from a full-strength squad.
Skipper Rob Page and midfielder Lloyd Kerry are available after serving three-match suspensions, while utility man Jamie Lowry – who was taken to hospital for stitches to a head wound sustained during the 1-0 home defeat against Brentford – is also back in the fold.
All three played in a behind-closed-doors training match against Sheffield United on Tuesday.
And although Darren Currie picked up an ankle problem in the 2-2 draw at Morecambe, while Gregor Robertson and Aaron Downes suffered dead-legs, all three are expected to be ready for the Chester showdown.
After a run of three straight defeats, Richardson said: ''The draw gives us something to build on.
''It was disappointing to lose an early goal – yet again – but we came back and took the lead and a third goal would have finished them off.
''But whenever you are just one goal to the good you are always vulnerable and they pulled one back late on.''
He said that Downes and Alan Goodall were 'outstanding' in defence and that the midfield section 'looked solid'.
Most encouraging was Richardson's assessment of his front two, Lester and Jamie Ward.
''They looked sharp and at times threatened to run riot,'' he said.
Blues fans can save money by buying tickets in advance for the away game at Lincoln City on Saturday week.
Adult tickets, which cost £17 on the day, are available from the ticket office for £15.
Bookings are being taken for official away travel to Sincil Bank which costs £10 a seat and coaches depart Cross Street at 12.30pm.
