Kieran Djilali looks every inch a star of the future.
The teenage winger, signed on a month's loan from Crystal Palace, gave a bravura display in Chesterfield FC's 5-2 triumph over Darlington.

Although the Spireites went down 2-1 at Bury on Tuesday – a result which brought an end to a sequence of four straight League Two triumphs – Djilali appears destined for greatness.

The fleet-footed winger made his Blues debut in the 3-2 victory over promotion rivals Rochdale and gave supporters an exhilarating display of his talents at Saltergate when the Quakers were brushed aside.

He demonstrated his pace with a number of thrilling runs down the left flank in the first half and demonstrated he had an eye for the main chance with a well-taken strike in the second half.

Djilali looks ideally suited to give the Spireites width as they strive to maintain their promotion push.

Manager John Sheridan seems delighted with his new man. He said: ''I am very pleased. He's just what I want in a winger. Against Darlington, he got at their full back all the time.''

The Lambeth-born player is also settling in well at Chesterfield. He said: ''The lads are friendly and the fans gave me a great reception. I was very pleased to score – you could see that from my goal celebrations!

''I knew I could get past the defender but I took it a bit wide, so I just hit it and it went in.''

The 67th minute effort was his first league goal.

Djilali may only have been with the Spireites for a few days but it looks as if he knows the team's strengths and weaknesses.

He said: ''We play an attractive style but conceding goals is a problem. We need to be ruthless and keep clean sheets.

''If we tighten things up at the back things will be fine.''

The youngster – who has played a handful of games for the Eagles, managed by former Spireite Neil Warnock, and had a spell on loan at Crawley Town – believes the gulf between the Championship and League Two is not as wide as many people think.

''League Two is a very high standard. There is not much difference with the Championship, the gap is not that big,'' he said.

Boss Sheridan was unhappy with his side's performance at Gigg Lane.
He said: ''I thought we played well in the last 20 minutes but that was what I'd asked for from the start.

''Scott Boden came on and just gave us that little bit of cutting edge, took care of the ball and we moved it about a bit quicker but you shouldn't have to wait until the last 20 minutes for that.

''I knew it would be a horrible game with the weather and we never really got going.

''The first goal was a joke and sometimes I have to be a brave man and make brave decisions so I'm going to have to look at things and make those decisions if we want to be a successful team.''

Meanwhile, Wolves defender Mark Little has had his emergency loan spell extended for a third and final period and will now remain with the Spireites until January 2, with a continued 24 hour call-back clause.

He has been on loan with Chesterfield since October 6, so far making nine appearances for the Spireites.
