Brighton's newly-appointed manager Micky Adams has refused to comment that the League One club is interested in signing Chesterfield FC's out of contract duo Peter Leven and Janos Kovacs.
Adams took over the Withdean hot-seat on Friday and after the weekend declined to speak about any transfer targets.

Former manager Dean Wilkins was keen on midfielder Leven and a £100,000 offer tabled midway through the season was turned down by Saltergate chiefs.

The duo could have been recommended by Seagulls chief scout Barry Lloyd, a former manager, who has been retained following the departure of Wilkins.

Lee Richardson, meanwhile, who has offered new contracts to both players, would like to see the future of Leven settled quickly.

If Leven, who was appointed captain during December in favour of Aaron Downes, is on his way, Richardson needs as to know as early as possible to allow him time to make moves for a new play maker.

Meanwhile, former international defender Robert Page looks certain to be Blues captain next season.

The experienced centre back, who played 42 times for Wales, is a natural-born leader and manager Lee Richardson believes the former Watford, Sheffield United, Coventry and Huddersfield man could be the men.

''I never decide these things until nearer the start of the season but Robert is in pole position for the arm band,'' said the Blues boss.

Page, who has signed a pre-contract agreement, will put him name to a two-year deal when his contract at the Galpharm Stadium comes to an end.

Page (33) said one of the main reasons he decided to opt for a move to Chesterfield was the ambition detailed by Richardson.

''I want promotion straight away."
