Wheelchair
I visited the largest Tesco Store in Chesterfield.
My carer went to obtain a wheelchair so I could shop there.
She was told that wheelchairs cannot be taken out of the store into the car park.
As the customer service desk is at the far end of the store, how could a disabled person or anybody with poor mobility enter the store to get to the desk to pick up the wheelchairs?

Mister T
Friday, March 2, 2012 at 04:11 PMOut-of -town (touch) Tesco store is not aware of the meaning of the term "disabled." I need a wchair when my carer is NOT shopping at the same time as myself. (I cannot propel the chair) If she is, I NEED a scooter to shop. Around Christams 2011, the availabilkity of scooters was reduced to one, owing to the others waiting weeks for repair. Because out-of -town Tesco does not support a simple 1st come 1st served basis, the only scooter was being reserved for a 'ghost' customer. The options I faced were to, wait until the ghost customer came, collected, used and returned THE scooter; wait in my car for my carer or go elsewhere to shop. If I'd have been alone, the latter woud have met with no hesitation. Adding insult to injury (in my opinion) I was offered the tel: number of the store suggesting I reserve THE scooter for future visits. Further, ALL supermarkets break the law when stacking items out of reach of the disabled. WHEN are prossecutions going to be the order of the day? J Taylor Dunston
