We are waiting to be told
SIR — May I thank NE Derbyshire District Council for their additional clarification on why they have not yet set a date for the rent reduction and rebate that tenants are expecting (Mailbox, May 7).
As it was March 6 when the council was made aware of the Government's funding offer to help councils cut their rents by half, why has the council not held a meeting to discuss this before May 20?
When is the council going to let its rent paying tenants know what decision was made at the Cabinet meeting on that date. It was stated in the Derbyshire Times that as soon as they knew the outcome of the meeting the council would write to tenants to let them know what would be happening. Why has this not happened?
I am sure the council could move faster to inform its tenants what it is doing, especially as many tenants in other authorities have already received the rent reduction, or at least been informed when it will take effect.
I would also like to thank the council for wanting to arrange a meeting for me or to chat to me on the phone, but I would much rather it communicated its asnwers to all their tenants in north east Derbyshire as private meetings would not achieve this.
UNHAPPY RENTPAYER,
