No state funeral for former Prime Minister Thatcher
I was pleased to hear and read that there was a demonstration in Chesterfield, outside the cinema, where a film of Margaret Thatcher’s life was being shown.
I am from an ex-mining community in South Wales and I’ve seen the devestating effect Thatcher’s policies have had on my community.
From 1970 to 1974, I taught at Shirebrook School, where I was warmly received by the mining community and I share their pain in what has happened to Shirebrook and the surrounding areas.
There is no way that Thatcher should receive a state funeral for causing such unhappiness and despair.
I am happy to join with my Derbyshire friends should they wish to demonstrate (probably in London) in the event of a state funeral taking place.

Mister T
Monday, February 6, 2012 at 04:33 PMI feel as strongly re Margret Thatcher, as Challie Brees does. Only I hold the direct oposite view to Charlie. I too was in a mining community in the strikes. I too saw the difference in that community after the strikes. I worked on the Mines Safety Staff, as such I was not ALLOWED to strike. I also saw the stupidity of peroducing a commodity no-one wants, A commodity which was prodiced at a tremendous financial loss to the nations purse. I'm happy to join ANYONE, in London, or elsewhere who wish to demonstrate in the event of a non state funneral. I staunchly hold the view that free men should be able to express opinion. That's why this letter will NEVER see print. Akin with a lot more I've posted here. Mr J Taylor Newbold
