Litter shame
WHAT is clearly evident after recent winter months is just how much litter is blighting our towns, cities, villages and countryside alike.
With our authorities having to cut back on the number of people employed in these tedious duties, surely it’s up to us, the public, to restore some pride into our area.
Recently, I walked through Poolsbrook Country Park along the Fan Road to Cemetery Lane in Staveley, the amount of litter made it a real eyesore
I spent two hours gathering up as much of the rubbish as I could, whilst walking up to the burial place of Charles Paxton Markham in Staveley cemetery. Goodness knows what he would make of modern society.
