Concert party memorabilia is at library

SIR — Re the recent issues of the Derbyshire Times which featured The Versatiles Concert Party/Leader Len Willey. I am Len's son, a retired musician.

During the Second World War the concert party were members of the Entertainments Service Northern Command. They gave approximately 750 performances at military bases and hospitals, civilian hospitals, Spitfire Fund shows as well as Holidays at Home shows in Queen's Park as well as in Sheffield and Rotherham parks.

A compilation of the Concert Party's posters, photos, letters and military documents can be seen in Chesterfield Library. These date from the 1920s to the 1960s.

I hope this information is of use to your readers.

ALAN WILLEY,

Renishaw Road,

Mastin Moor, Chesterfield.
