BRAMPTON: Church’s round-the-clock charity table tennis tournament

The Gospel Mission Church on Old Road, has just completed a successful 24- hour table tennis tournament which, at time of going to print, seems likely to have raised over £350 for The Jacqueline Garlic Epilepsy Fund and also some computer software to enhance worship.

The event ran from 3pm on Saturday, January 26, to 3pm on Sunday 27.

Over40 people of all ages were involved and some of the teenagers involved held a sleep-over in the church so that they could be involved in most of the event.

Various surprising styles of play were involved including what must be a first - table tennis ‘Gangham Style’ and also playing a ‘double hander’ – table tennis where one player has two bats. Players were kept nourished by a constant stream of refreshments including bacon baps, soup and home-made cakes.

At the stroke of 3pm on the Sunday, the table tennis finished and the service began from the table if you will pardon the pun.
The Chesterfield Faith and Light Group for adults and children with severe physical and learning difficulties were invited to the service and stayed on after for a buffet tea.

The Gospel Mission wishes to thank all those involved including the many generous sponsors.
