Volunteers helpers are the target of a recruitment drive by a uniformed youth group.

The 2nd Chesterfield Boys’ Brigade Company is looking for adult volunteers which will enable the company to expand and attract more young people.

The company started just before the Boys’ Brigade Centenary in 1982 and is based at Storrs Road Methodist Church.

Boys and girls, from six years upwards, take part in a variety of activities on Monday nights.

One of the senior members Luke Young has recently gained the highest award, the Queen’s Badge, and is seen in this photograph with his certificate.

James Cowie (back right) was one of the first boys enrolled in the 2nd Chesterfield Company to receive this award. Also in the photograph is James’ father, John (the captain of the company) and his grandfather Clifford Rooks who both received the award when they were Seniors in the 25th Halifax Boys’ Brigade Company. The are holding plaques mounted with the badges they gained whilst in the Boys’ Brigade

Could you fit the bill? Have you been in the Boys’ Brigade previously (as an adult or in your youth)? Would you like to pass on any life skills, outdoor skills that you have. You can find out more by contacting John Cowie on (01246) 274021.
