BOLSOVER: Residents thank Good Samaritans

Several elderly and vulnerable Bolsover residents wish to thank friends, relatives, carers and the many good neighbours who have phoned, or

battled through January’s snow and ice to ensure their health and wellbeing.

Community-spirited Bolsover Civic Society volunteers, have ensured that older members are warm and safe. They have brought shopping, prescriptions, library books, newspapers and friendly faces to the housebound.

Members of the Bolsover Churches have also been active in their help.

Vulnerable families are pleased that Mark North’s on-going support, based at the Hill Top Methodist Church, has been acknowledged by his recent award of the Excellence in the Community Award by the Derbyshire County Council.

Members of the Parish Church of St Mary and St Lawrence helped the vicar, the Rev Rachel Gouldthorpe, to clear snow from paths to the church for services and to the parish rooms for activities, including the Thursday community coffee mornings.

Several church members wanted to say, ‘Thank you’ to Mary Revill and members of the Mothers’ Union for their visits, telephone and email care.

Residents living in the Pearce Trust Bungalows, also wished to thank David Joyce for being ‘a good Samaritan’ in clearing their paths to enable access for the care and support services.

Last but not least, several lonely and housebound residents wished to thank Shearer Thurlby for her ongoing support, her regular, comforting visits and for bringing a most welcome, warm parish Christmas lunch.
