A kind-hearted volunteer has been honoured with a top award for her work with a Chesterfield charity caring for disabled youngsters.
Cassandra Jarvis (20) was crowned Fairplay's Volunteer of the Year during a ceremony, at The Winding Wheel, Chesterfield.

A Fairplay spokesman said: "Cassandra is very caring and knows the children very well and is a committed and dedicated volunteer."

The volunteer was presented with a plaque by Chesterfield borough councillor Peter Barr. Fairplay praised and thanked all its volunteers for their hard work and support.

Runners-up included Chris Allatt, Ruth Barnes, Jack Fawbert, Jaden Galloway, Georgina Goodwin, Jessica Lloyd, Charlotte Mellor, Kyna Milnes and Katie Toft.

A Fairplay spokesman added: "Working with these youngsters and putting something back into the community can be very rewarding and we're always seeking to recruit volunteers to support our work."

Fairplay, of Chatsworth Road, Brampton, helps provide care and activities with play schemes, youth groups and day trips and support for families.

Anyone interested in volunteering can visit the website www.fair-play.co.uk, email volunteers@fair-play.co.uk or call (01246) 203963.
