Thieves lock man in van

Thieves made off with thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes after locking a van driver in the back of his vehicle.

Three men approached the cream and red Iveco box van, which was parked in the Somerfield car park on Market Street, Clay Cross at around 7.15am on Tuesday, October 7.

The driver was making a delivery of cigarettes to the store and the three offenders got into the van while he was in it.

They locked the driver in before making off with five large bags containing hundreds of cigarettes.

Witnesses should call police on 0845 123 3333.
