Youngsters are taking to the pitch in football tournaments during a campaign to show racism the red card.
Derbyshire County Council's youth service is supporting the Kick Racism Out of Football campaign which is sponsored by the Football Association.

Youth centres have selected teams to take part in district five-a-side tournaments during September with winners going forward to a county final to be staged at Clowne in October.

Boys and girls, aged 12-14, will contest tournaments at Killamarsh Youth Centre from noon to 3pm on Saturday, September 13.

There will also be contests for 14-16 year olds which will be hosted at the new multi use games area on Main Road, Holmewood, from 6pm on Friday, September 19.

Cllr Bob Janes, Derbyshire County Council's cabinet member for cultural services, said: "The tournaments are a great way for youngsters to exercise and have fun, at the same time as supporting a very important message.

"We are committed to giving everyone a level playing field by promoting equality across Derbyshire and the The Kick Racism Out of Football campaign is a great example of this."
