Police name A61 fatal crash victim

Police have identified the victim of a fatal crash as a 35-year-old man from Matlock.

Ian Wileman of The Cliff died at the scene after his white Renault van collided with a silver Vauxhall Vivaro van on the A61 between Clay Cross and Wingerworth at 5.45am on Thursday.

The Renault was travelling south towards Clay Cross and the Vauxhall was being driven in the opposite direction.

The road was closed between the Royal Oak at Tupton and Thanet Street in Clay Cross for several hours while the scene was cleared.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on (01773) 572929.
