Police found a man hanged by his neck from a tree at his home after they received reports he had not been seen for some time.

North Derbyshire Coroner's Court heard on Tuesday how Kevin Dye (46), of Garrett Green, Danesmoor, was discovered suspended with a rope round his neck.

Pc Bronwen Walton found Mr Dye after police were alerted that he had been missing but she stressed there were no suspicious circumstances.

Catherine Mason, deputy coroner for the county, said: "He was a creature of habit and when he hadn't been seen police were alerted and on attendance at the property Mr Dye was found suspended from a tree with a rope round his neck."

A post mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as asphyxiation due to hanging.

Mr Dye was found at his home about 5pm, on May 29. Mrs Mason recorded a verdict that Mr Dye took his own life.
