Ian Clulow, from Lower Pilsley, Clay Cross, is being backed in his efforts to raise £25,000 by Matlock Gilbert and Sullivan Society, of which he is a member.

The society is setting up a number of money-spinning events for the appeal, including a sponsored walk from Matlock to Bakewell on July 20 (call Liz McKenzie on (01629) 57029 and car boot sale on August 25 (contact Liz McKenzie, or Carole Pilkington on (01246) 207893.
