Tributes have been paid to a 'dedicated' councillor who died after suffering a massive heart attack.
Cllr Fred Hopkinson, of Unstone, passed away at Chesterfield Royal Hospital on Saturday, aged 69.

He served on NE Derbyshire District and Unstone Parish councils and was a governor at Unstone Junior, Unstone St Mary's Infants and Apperknowle Primary schools.

His widow Sandra (59), said: "He was Unstone. People have said it won't be the same without him."

Cllr Hopkinson was first elected to NE Derbyshire District Council in 1987. He served as chairman of the council twice, in 1991 and 1992.

Cllr Hopkinson also leaves sons Matthew (33) and Nick (31).

A service will take place on Tuesday at St Mary's, Crow Lane, Unstone, at 9.45am, followed by private cremation.
