A public inquiry was due to open today to consider a Compulsory Purchase Order for properties in Clay Cross - issued as part of a major town centre redevelopment scheme.

The order - issued in January by NE Derbyshire District Council - affects a number of properties in the town and is designed to open up land for redevelopment between Bridge Street and Market Street.

Two orders made by Derbyshire County Council in respect of improved highway access to the A61 from Bridge Street will also be considered at the hearing, which is being held in the George Stephenson Room at Coney Green Business Centre, Clay Cross from 10am.
